Description Job Role

HMP Berwyn offers exceptional learning & skill provision, with a focus on rehabilitation, to the men it houses. The curriculum offer supports this process and we are seeking exceptional staff to help us deliver this agenda across a wide range of areas.

You will be a part of the catering team in our new training restaurant, providing support to both front of house and back of house as necessary. This includes placing and processing orders, issuing and collecting in equipment and supporting learners where needed.

As directed by the Hub Manager you will: * facilitate delivery in your curriculum area, ensuring that you meet budget, quality and operational targets;

  • Key Accountabilities

    • Support the delivery of learning (where appropriate) via practical instruction and support
    • Support delivery of learner-focussed provision
    • Provide appropriate pastoral support for learners
    • Work in conjunction with stakeholders to ensure the learner is supported throughout their learning experience
    • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping, complying with health and safety requirements
    • Control movement of materials throughout workshops, managing supply levels in line with curriculum requirements
    • Dispose of waste in accordance with current waste management procedures.
    • Ensure safeguarding of learners and staff
    • Compliance with agreed policies and procedures
    • Timely and accurate recording and record keeping
    • Participate in continual professional development activities to ensure skills and qualifications are in line with sector best practice

  • Qualifications

    • Hold a minimum L3 qualification in relevant vocational area Desirable
    • Hold a minimum L2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy Essential
    • Ability to speak fluent Welsh Desirable
    • Subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check Essential
    • Hold, or commit to gain within 3 months, an award in Food Safety in Catering (Minimum level 2) Essential
  • Experience

    • Knowledge of vocational area Desirable
    • Knowledge of vocational qualification processes and systems Desirable
    • Knowledge of common IT systems, e.g. MS Office, Email etc. Essential
    • Experience in the catering and hospitality sector Desirable
    • Experience within a similar role Desirable
    • Recent track record of effective delivery in subject specialism Desirable
    • Experience of working within a prison, further education or training setting Desirable
